Because ON and OFF are opposites, I want to do something with the theme OPPOSITES in mind. By listing down different opposing words, I have noticed that these have characteristics pertaining to interaction design.

From the beginning of this project, I already knew I wanted to do something INTERACTIVE and use the ARDUINO that we learned in one of the workshops to achieve even the simplest interaction.
FMP: Ones and Zeros (Digital Nature)
Blowing Dandelion seeds with a hair dryer.
BOOKS
OPPOSITES:

ON and OFF
CAUSE and EFFECT
DARK and LIGHT
MALE and FEMALE
LOUD and QUIET
PUSH and PULL
DULL and BRIGHT
MOTION and STILLNESS
POSITIVE and NEGATIVE
FAST and SLOW
LEFT and RIGHT
UP and DOWN
INPUT and OUTPUT
I initially looked for information in these two books.

There are many amazing designs and possibilities however these are a few that interested me that I think I could somehow replicate, incorporate, and I should keep in mind when designing my own digital design, with the Arduino, whatever it may be. And also some that plainly impressed me of what code plus design can achieve.
COLOUR CHASER by Yuri Suzuki
"A miniature vehicle that detects and follows a black line whilst it reads crossing coloured lines
and translates this RGB data into sound. "
ideas:
- use drawn lines as the 'input' signal of the device
- sound as output or input
WOODEN MIRROR by Daniel Rozin
The "pixels" are actually wooden blades that move and the carefully positioned light provides contrast thus creating a pixelated-like mirror effect.
These 2 installations have similar effects to the Pin Art device
This mirror is also similar to this installation I found beforehand when researching for a different project:

IN ORDER TO CONTROL by NOTA BENE Visual

"A text discussing about the threshold on ethics and morality was looping on the floor, people who step on the typographic area to read it, realize them selves on the wall and the interaction process starts."
analysis:
the text on the floor is somewhat on a SERIOUS topic, but the interactivity suggest for people to PLAY, the opposite of the message.
idea:
- an installation that needs no instruction and just waits for the user to explore and realise how to interact with it on their own.
- use LED lights as the 'pixels' much like the mirror and the text to imprint the shape
BIT. FALL by Julius Popp
In BIT.FALL, information is represented by words generated by a computer program, based on a statistical algorithm. The program filters relevant terms from the current stream of news on the internet, and transmits the values to the control unit of BIT.FALL. In a split second, BIT. FALL releases hundreds of drops at specific intervals, creating a ‘waterfall’ of words. Each drop of water thus becomes a liquid and transient ‘pixel’ or ‘bit’, the smallest unit of information.
idea:
- something similar by getting keywords from "tweets"and instead of rain drops using LED lights connected to an arduino
