As digital technology is ever so expanding, interaction between humans and technology is much more evident and we are not only contented to be able to see and interpret what is on screen but it has become even more a need to be able to engagement with the screen, and the technology to be able to 'experience' a new type of interaction involving the 5 human senses.

We are trying to discover new ways to interact with 2D environments such as the screen and also convert the experience to 3D environments thus breaking down the formal shape of the screen and including haptic sensory engagements.
Interaction
Projection mapping is being re-conceptualised to be able to at least have the "illusion" of human-computer interaction.

In this video of THE BOX by Bot and Dolly, human gestures have an effect with what is happening on the screen, when in fact it is merely a well coordinated and timed performance.
The screen is a surface in its basic use, as much as any other surface. We are making use of the screen in a larger scale. As these graffiti artists show, the malleability of a screen can produce malleable effects similar to that if painting on a normal surface or wall. However, the artist doing digital graffiti can do more as he can scale, transform, undo, redo and action and much more.

These type of interactive environments harness play .
With the plethora of screen-based interactive media, a shift to other reactive environments is being undertaken with three-dimensional spaces and objects . By trying to mimic living creatures in the physical world for example with creatures and plants.

These two videos : Petting Zoo and Lotus Dome are examples of this venture into re-creating the physical world digitally and providing a whole new sensory experience.
With my reaction from the Forking Pathways workshop, I created this diagram showing the different pathways that can be taken by the user.

For the computer to "do something" to it the user must first engage with it- a simple form of human-computer interaction. This form of interactivity runs throughout the world of interactive design.
